Invite Family Members To Help You Plan
Friends and family love to help out with parties, especially baby showers! Your friends and family members that will be helping you with the shower will feel like they contributed, increasing their involvement. Planning can be stressful. Having helpers can alleviate some of that stress.
Set a Theme for the Baby Shower
Theme helps give your baby shower a unifying look. A theme can help you select decorations, party favors, invitations and games that match the overall feel of the shower.
A few of our favorite baby shower theme ideas:
- Nautical Theme
- Anchors and Seashells
- Farm Animal
- Medieval Castle
- Beach or Tropical Themed
You could also keep it simple and keep it color-themed like pink for girl or blue for boy.
Tip: Amazon sells great all-in-one baby shower decorating kits to make decorating even easier.
Decide on Food and Drinks
Food and drinks are a big part of baby showers but they don’t need to be overly complicated. You could choose to have small appetizers, dessert bar or even a brunch bar instead of doing a full menu.
For beverages, think water and juices or other non-alcoholic drinks for the Mom-to-Be and guests. We also love offering lemonade or themed non-alcoholic drinks too!
For guests that can drink, you could always offer an alcoholic version of a mixed drink or sparkling wine or champagne. Mimosas are also a great addition!
Tip: If you’re crunched for time, you could also order catering through your favorite restaurant or grocery store.

Send out Invitations Early
We recommend sending out invitations at least a month in advance to give guests time to respond and plan to attend the shower. If you’re not sure who to invite, think about who will be involved with the child after he/she is born. This may include:
- Family
- Friends
- Parents-to-be
Invitations have come a long way and you can opt to do printed invitations (we love these ones from Minted!) or do a digital invitation like a Facebook event.
Tip: Make sure your registry is close to complete before you send out invitations. Our favorite places to make registrys are Amazon and Buy Buy Baby.
Keep the Baby Shower Simple
Having a simple baby shower is important because it won’t be too overwhelming for the Mom-to-Be or your guests. Focus on the theme and decorating:
- Decorate with Balloons, streamers and banners to really make it pop! (Tip: we love the all-in-one decorating kits from Amazon!)
- Use coordinating colors from the theme of the party. For example, if you chose a beach-themed shower, put out colored beach balls, palm tree decorations etc.
Plan Games and Activites
Activities can be a fun way for guests to interact and feel included in the shower, but sometimes they can be overly complicated and cheesy. Plan activities for the baby shower that you know your guests will have fun playing. Some of our favorite baby shower games are:
